FAQ - Event Details

  • Tell me more about the parking ramp and how it fits into the race.

    The parking ramp is 7 levels, the 10K course takes athletes all the way up and all the way down all 7 levels.. The 5K will pass through the center of the ramp, but does not go up and down.

    Race the Ramp Challenge (10K only)

    Runners hit the parking ramp and are timed from the base to the top. If your ramp pace beats your overall race pace, you earn Race the Ramp status.

    Not the fastest. Not elite-only. Just proof you found another gear.

    Qualifiers will receive a “Race the Ramp” badge and be entered to win a pair of ON running shoes, thanks to our friends at Fleet Feet Des Moines.

  • Will the race take place rain or shine?

    Pack your ponchos! Rain or shine the event will happen. If there is unsafe weather, we will work with the Des Moines police to monitor the situation and keep you informed. We most definitely want to ensure each athlete gets to experience The Night Run, but we will make sure that the safety of the athletes, volunteers, staff and city officials is the number one priority.   • Who is producing this event?

    RipRoar Events is a Des Moines based event production company. We carefully choose events that are empowering and impactful on our community and strive to produce events at the absolute highest level. You can find out more about us here https://www.riproarevents.com/

  • Are dogs allowed?

    Dogs are not allowed on the race course unless previously verified as a service dog with RipRoar Race staff.

  • Who is timing the event and how is it timed?

    True Time Racing will be timing our event. You will have a timing chip on the back of your bib.

  • I would like to volunteer for this event. Where do I sign up?

    Our volunteers make the world go ‘round! Volunteer shifts are available. All volunteers must be 12+ years old (some shifts may have age restrictions.)

  • Where Can I park?

  • Can I pick up packets for other athletes?

    Yes! Have a screenshot of their confirmation email with QR code or a printed out copy of confirmation email. You will be asked to leave your name and phone number in the case of a mix up.

    All race waivers MUST be signed in order to leave with any and all race packets. You can check the status of your race waiver by signing into your Run SignUp Profile.

  • What do I bring with me to packet pick up?

    Have access to your confirmation email, or have it printed out and bring it with you. Please have your race waiver signed before picking up your packet.

    If you are picking up for others be sure to have proof of their race registration + their race waiver MUST be signed.

  • What's Race the ramp status + did I achieve it??

FAQ - Registration

  • My child wants to run the mile. Which heat should we register them for?

    You can select a heat based on your child’s expected pace. As long as they’re able to run faster than a 15-minute mile, they’re welcome to register for any heat that matches their estimated finish time.

  • What is the refund policy for this event?

    We value your money and want to make sure we’re delivering an exceptional experience to you wherever we can. Our standard refund policy across all races does not allow for refunds, transfers or deferrals for any reason.

  • Can I transfer my registration to a friend?

    We do not allow race transfers between people.

  • If I sign up for the double, will I get two race bibs?

    No, you will get one race bib to wear during both the 5K/10K as well as The Night Mile.

  • Am I able to transfer from the 10K to the 5K?

    Of course! Use the steps listed below for “transferring event” to switch between distances.

    For race week, all transfers must happen in person during packet pick up hours.

    1. Go to www.runsignup.com and log in to your profile

    2. Click “My Profile” in the top right corner of the screen

    3. Find the ‘The Night Run’ from your “upcoming events” and click “manage registration.”

    4. Along the top navigation bar choose “transfer event”

    5. Click “start transfer” and complete the registration.

  • I got an unsigned waiver email?

    Please follow the directions in the email.

    All registered athletes must have a signed waiver to pick up their packet!
